Family Guy vs. The Original

I think one of the many reasons I love Family Guy so much is due to all its pop culture references. But, when it comes to remaking some classic virals, it’s hard to tell which one I like better.

If you know of any other internet parodies from Family Guy that we left out, drop a comment and we'll add it to the list.

haha! i love family guy... its just to bad that future generations wont understand most of the pop references. then again i guess family guy is also full of old clips that i had to lookup to get the reference. one of them off the top of my head is the one where stewie is talking about being cool and it goes to an old william shatner song impression which was the rocket man.

I might be wrong but I thought the "original" burger king did not look like that it, it looked like this one http://www.starterupsteve.com/swf/burgerking.html I might be wrong, anyone else remember 5 years ago?

there's the infamous one where peter gets kicked in the nuts by orange-afro'd bastard that... oddly enough... kicks people in the nuts

On the Digg article for this post, somebody pointed out these two:
The original: http://youtube.com/watch?v=QcuFbtrVM9M
Family Guy: http://youtube.com/watch?v=RQN3bPuIIGE

You're very right, Jason... this is a ripoff of the original that you posted.

I only say ripoff because he doesn't seem to correct anyone giving him credit in his youtube link, nor does he provide a link to the original.

I guess it's not from Family Guy, but close enough (Star Wars Kid on American Dad):

"Kicked in the Nuts" is the best thing I've seen since I started roaming this site. Somebody please make this a reality show!
December 7, 2006 | Unregistered Commenteralther
Yes that is correct.
Kicked in the nuts.

millions of people watch this show thinking the creators come up with all these jokes themselves. they should be required to have a bibliography at the end of every episode.

the original kicked in the nuts is actually from the creator of family guy in case you didnt know. who he stole that from is another story.

Joey, no offense, but it's called parody.
December 7, 2006 | Unregistered Commenterrats
Rats, no offense, but parody implies that you change something in the effort to make light of it or make it funnier, but Family Guy takes the exact clip they're "parodying" and just puts Family Guy characters in place of the originals, the more I follow up on Family Guy's "references" the more I find that they're wasting too much of their talent on this crap and not enough on the good parts of the show that they can come up with themselves. I guess if you fill an episode up with crap like this that people will laugh at regardless of whether they know where it came from or not, then you don't have to be very clever.

Isn't the point to make people laugh? No laughs, and you become The Simpsons.
December 7, 2006 | Unregistered CommenterScott
Yep, the burger king "original" isn't the "original". This would have been a much more clever post if you had bothered to fix this mistake.

How about when Stewie sang "Rocket Man" like Shatner did? That's pretty good.

Don't forget the ipecac episode

Rocket Man! That is seriously one of the funniest ever clips -- both the original and the remake actually.

Family Guy es mi serie favorita y a veces no sabia de que videos virales provenian algunas referencias de la serie. Excelente post!
