The Salvation Army has set up a tent in town, that is serving as a disaster services center. Representatives with the organization say they will stay until things start to get back to normal. The American Red Cross has also sent aid to many of the hard hit communities. Citizens from surrounding cities and counties are bringing in food, water and other supplies to help. If you would like to help tornado victims, the easiest way is do donate to the or .
A local meteorologist and storm chaser, Bryan Wood, was targeting Southern Indiana on his chase Friday afternoon. He just so happened upon the two supercells that hit Henryville. Reading his tweets on Friday were heartbreaking, as we saw first hand what the tornadoes did to the town and the people who live there. He shares his images and story with all of us here: .
the rest of the day. There is still the chance for a few snow showers, but accumulation will remain under a half inch. And it will be another cold day, as temperatures will run about 10 degrees below normal with highs in the mid 30s. The sun should Converse All Star Dainty Ox
peek out from time to time, however, and that will help it feel a little warmer! We actually see quite a bit of sunshine on Tuesday as high pressure moves east of us. With a clock wise flow around high pressure, this means southerly winds for us and a warm up:
Today, the people of that community are also dealing with the cold and up to 3 of snow on top of the tornado clean up. Bryan says the gas was turned off because there were leaks everywhere after the storms hit. That means people are without heat, and being a small town, there are no hotels in the area. This leaves a lot of people out in the cold, with no means of transportation (with the lack of fuel).
One of the hardest hit areas was Henryville, Indiana where two separate supercell thunderstorms hit, each producing a tornado. The storms followed essentially the same path, separated by only 10 minutes. Live Doppler 2X actually captured these supercells as they tracked into Kentucky textbook images below, of reflectivity on the left and wind velocity on the right (which shows the Converse All Star Ox White Mens Trainers
The National Weather Service in Louisville has given a preliminary rating of EF4 to the tornado that destroyed much of Henryville. In the map below, the represent tornado reports the large hail reports. And the blue markers show either wind or hail. You can see just how close we were to some of the worst destruction:
Highs will be in the 50s Tuesday afternoon, and close to 60 degrees by Wednesday. The winds will be a little strong, however, so expect a breezy week!

Now as we expected, severe weather Converse Silver Boots pounded our region last Friday. We were so very lucky here in the Miami Valley as all of the strong storms with long tracking tornadoes went south of our area. We did have a few tornado warnings, and Chief Meteorologist Brian Davis and I were tracking these live on Channel 2, while Meteorologist Tara Hastings was out reporting on weather conditions in the area. No major damage came out of those cells, just some larger hail and gusty winds. But areas as close as 70 miles away got hit big time. As of this blog entry, of the 80 tornado reports that day, 42 tornadoes have been confirmed, and 38 are still preliminary (per Dr. Greg Forbes of The Weather Channel).
The light snow showers that fell overnight didn amount to much accumulation here in the Miami Valley. Most spots stayed under a half inch, but the timing AND temperature played a big role in how messy it really got out there. The morning drive has been plagued with slide offs and accidents. When I came into work around 3am, I noticed the roads had not been pre treated, and while many were just wet the bridges were definitely snow covered and slick. The reason it got so bad: as the snow fell the roads got wet. With temperatures in the 20s, this soon began to freeze. And the problems just got worse as more and more people headed out for their commute! Several major roads and even highways were shut down at times this morning to clear accidents or just so salt trucks could get out and treat what some were calling of ice good news is that conditions will improve as we head through Converse Leather Trainers Sale
